Any device that requires data will need this cable. The red and black wires are responsible for power. While white (sometimes colored as yellow) and green are responsible for data.

This is now discontinued and has been replaced by Hardwired 2-wire Smoke and Heat Detector The ADT Hardwired 2 Wire Smoke Detector is a wired smoke detector that is photoelectric. It also has a heat detector and a sounder. Additionally, this detector lasts around 7-10 years. Fortunately, it's super easy to replace since you just need to re-hook up the wires to the same spot on the new one, and it should work just as it did before.
