This Aperio Communication Hub is a smart solution for upgrading access control without the hassle of running new wiring. It uses short-distance wireless communication (IEEE 802.15.4 at 2.4 GHz) to connect with an Aperio hub. This then integrates seamlessly with existing access control systems via IP, RS-485, or Wiegand. With a wireless range of up to 50 feet, AES 128-bit encryption for secure data transmission, and flexible power options through Power over Ethernet (PoE) or an external 8–24VDC supply, this device delivers both convenience and reliability. The lock operates between 41°F and 95°F, while the hub handles a wider range from 32°F to 113°F. Both have up to 95% non-condensing humidity tolerance. This Aperio Communication Hub comes in different versions like Weigand(1:1), RS-485 (1:8), and IP (1:16)—so it’s easy to scale as your needs grow.

There’s even an option to add an external antenna if you need more even coverage around the hub, though it won’t extend the actual range. It is built for businesses that want to bring their access control into the modern age without the headaches of a major installation.
