Police Verification

These are the cities that require verified response before police can be dispatched. This means that a third party security guard company will be dispatched to check the premises and then they will dispatch police if they can confirm there has been a break in. Police will not dispatch on burglar alarms in these cities.

Why do these cities require verified response?

Because someone in their police departments thought it was a good idea, even though it is not. They foolishly think that it will save money but it actually does not since statistics have shown that more break ins occur with this policy in place which results in more expense and work than going to another false alarm. Some look at false alarms as a bad thing, but in actuality they are good. Would you rather it was real and a crime was being committed? Alarm systems are made to reduce crime and prevent crime not to catch bad guys. The Security Industry Alarm Coalition has an article about Verified Response here. Dallas and Los Angeles considered adopting this policy as well as other cities but after looking at the facts they decided against it.

How to Add More:

Press all four buttons on your ADT remote and hold them until the light on the remote flashes. The light will flash within three seconds.
Release all of the buttons on the remote.
Press the “Stay” button on the remote to change all of the buttons (except for “Panic”) to become instantaneous.
Press the “Disarm” button to reset the remote’s frequency. This step might be required whenever you take out the batteries or replace them.
Press the “Panic” button to select either “On” or “Off” settings for that button. The LED will flash twice if set to “Off” and only once if set to “On.”
Press the “Away” button to change back to the default delay settings for the “Panic” button, along with the other three buttons on the remote. The red LED light will be illuminated to indicate that it is sending the signal to the system and receiving its programming.

According to Neighborhood Scout Ivins (St George) is safer than 38% of US cities because of its higher than average crime data. (That means that its more dangerous than 86% of states. Ivins Police Department works with CrimeReports.com to show recent crimes including burglaries, thefts, assaults, and even sex offenders. The website city-data.com rates Ivins a 139, more than Santa Clara but less than Hurricane. It also states that there are 40 registered sex offenders in Ivins.
