The Hardwired Recessed Contact 3/8″ with Leads is the hardwired recessed contact that most hardwired homes have on their doors. You can also place them in windows if installed correctly. Used when you are pre-wiring the home or if you needed to replace an existing contact. (Remember to use a wire connector when splicing wires.) It takes a little more work to install than the attachable contacts, but when the door closes, they are practically invisible.

The contact recesses into the door or window frame, and the matching magnet recesses into the door or window itself, opposite the contact. You must make sure that the magnet is not farther away than 3/4” from the contact when the door closes. If you do not maintain less than a 3/4” magnet spacing gap between the recessed magnet and the other contact, your zone will stay in fault and you won’t be able to arm your security system.
