Secure Door Entry Solutions With Electric Strikes

12 V Standard Heavy Duty Electric Strike

Electric strikes are one of the most reliable and versatile solutions in access control. They serve as an alternative to a fixed strike plate for a latchbolt lock, featuring an electronic mechanism that allows the door to remain locked until access is granted. When paired with keypads, card readers, intercoms, or other access systems, electric strikes make it easy to secure entry points while allowing seamless, authorized entry.

Businesses, schools, apartment complexes, and government facilities often opt for electric strikes because they offer a perfect balance of security and convenience. Unlike traditional locks, electric strikes integrate with modern security systems to give property managers complete control over who enters and when.

At Zions Security Alarms, we carry a wide selection of standard-duty, heavy-duty, and fire-rated electric strikes to meet any application. Whether you’re outfitting a single office door or planning a large commercial access system, you’ll find dependable solutions designed for long-term use.

Why Choose Electric Strikes?

If you’re considering upgrading your access control system, electric strikes provide many benefits that go beyond what traditional locks can offer. They’re not just about keeping doors locked—they’re about creating a smarter, safer, and more convenient way to control entry. Here are some of the key reasons why many businesses and property owners prefer electric strikes:

  • Enhanced Security: Electric strikes give you precise control over who can enter your building by working in tandem with access control devices. Instead of relying on a physical key that can be lost or duplicated, electric strikes ensure only authorized users can open the door, making them more secure than traditional locks.
  • Convenience: With electric strikes, property managers and business owners no longer need to hand out multiple sets of keys or worry about rekeying locks. Employees, residents, or visitors can gain entry with a swipe card, fob, PIN, or even a mobile app, streamlining day-to-day operations.
  • Flexible Options: Electric strikes come in both fail-secure and fail-safe configurations, giving you the flexibility to choose what works best for your safety requirements. A fail-secure strike remains locked without power, while a fail-safe strike unlocks when power is lost—ideal for emergency exit doors.
  • Wide Compatibility: These strikes are designed to fit a wide range of door frames and locksets, including cylindrical and mortise locks. This makes them a versatile solution that can be integrated into almost any existing door hardware without requiring major modifications.
  • Durability: Built with long-lasting materials, many electric strikes are fire-rated and tested for high traffic areas. They can withstand heavy daily use and even attempts at forced entry, making them an ideal solution for commercial and institutional environments.

Applications of Electric Strikes

Electric strikes can be used in many different settings, from small businesses to large institutions. Because they’re designed to integrate with access control systems, they’re a flexible option for almost any environment where both security and controlled entry are important. Below are some of the most common applications:

  • Office Buildings & Corporate Facilities: Companies can secure their lobbies, offices, and server rooms with electric strikes that work seamlessly with ID badges or access cards, ensuring only employees and authorized visitors are allowed in.
  • Schools & Universities: Educational institutions benefit from electric strikes by securing classrooms, labs, and administrative offices. This ensures student safety while providing staff with quick and controlled access.
  • Apartments & Multi-Family Housing: Property managers can use electric strikes to simplify entry for tenants and maintenance staff while keeping doors locked to unauthorized visitors. Residents can easily use key fobs or codes instead of traditional keys.
  • Hospitals & Healthcare Facilities: In medical environments, electric strikes provide restricted access to sensitive areas such as labs, pharmacies, and records storage, where security and compliance are top priorities.
  • Government & Public Buildings: Federal, state, and municipal facilities use electric strikes to control access to secure offices and records, offering both strong security and adherence to regulatory standards.
